healthy diet protects against depression?

Before answering the title question I would like to quote definitions explaining what it actually is "depression" and when we say someone is "healthy." According to the World Health Organization (WHO) health is: " of complete physical well-being, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease and decrepitude" . This definition comes from the 1948 and beginning of the XXI century has been extended to the efficiency of the "leading a productive life social and economic ". Besides, it was found that an essential element to achieve full health is to meet spiritual needs.

With the above definitions, it is clear that the "health" is not only the proper functioning of all organs but also our performance in our professional and private life, the ability to communicate with others and keeping calm in stressful situations, ability to think clearly and logically force in accordance with his inner conscience, which meets the spiritual needs of man.

Anyone who does not feel any pain, there are no problems with sleep and mood, does not need to take medicines, and meets all the requirements cited the definition of "health" developed by the WHO can say that it is fully healthy. The problem arises when any of the health requirements of the World Health Organization is not satisfied. Then you may receive one of the diseases of civilization called "depression." It is a condition which is characterized mainly worsening of mood, lack of will to live, hunger attacks, which are often backed by unhealthy foods in large quantities, which in turn can lead (Or rather inevitably lead) to the digestive system problems, skin changes, bloating, insomnia - a word the whole avalanche of complaints, which can contribute even to suicide.

CAUSE NO BAD DIET AND OPTIMISM

Today we know that the cause of depression in many cases including poor diet. At this point I would like to clarify that the term "diet" I mean a permanent eating habits. According to my reasoning, each used a diet (more or less healthy). Please do not be confused with the popular in recent 2-3 years of weekly allowances, or transient changes in eating habits.

Ok. back to the merits. As I have said poor eating habits contribute to depression. Scientists from the U.S. claim that the greatest threat is a diet rich in fat and carbohydrate-protein combination. It turned out that the prof. Tombak was right when he wrote that the combination of potatoes (carbohydrates) and meat (protein) interferes with normal digestion process thereby damaging the digestive system. Scientists have shown that carbohydrates combined with protein does not stimulate production of serotonin, and thus do not fully meet its role. More on this subject can read the archives of articles entitled: "Interview with prof. Michael Tombakiem " and " Proper food combining ".

From a nutritional point of view, the most common cause of depression is a deficiency of vitamins and minerals that we need a daily supply of food. About vitamins and their presence has been written a lot (I also wrote a little about it) so instead of describing the various vitamins, and elements such as, magnesium will focus on research on depression:

Test No 1: Foods and mental disorders
induction studies of psychiatric disorders conducted by a variety of foods Alan Gettis from the School of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University. According to him, poor diet and sensitivity to certain nutrients (eg sugar, preservatives, dyes and other additives) may contribute to the occurrence of mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety. Another professor Talal Nsouli, allergist with the medical faculty of Georgetown University found that food allergy (eg milk) is the cause chronic fatigue syndrome - a busy large part of society in the so-called. civilized countries.

Study No. 2: Too much caffeine harms
Some time ago, in an article entitled: "A cup of coffee we drink in moderation because I want to be healthy" (http://biegpozdrowie.blogspot.com/2011/01/kawe-z-umiarem- drink-for-healthy-byc.html) I wrote that one should not exceed a daily dose of two glasses. As it turns out studies confirm my theory, which states that the coffee (just like alcohol - read: "Alcohol and Health" http://biegpozdrowie.blogspot.com/2009/11/alkohol-zdrowie.html) pita in moderation is healthy. Research conducted by prof. Roland Griffiths confirmed that higher doses of caffeine induce the so-called. enhancement effect, which is forced to continue drinking - addictive. In addition, rapid withdrawal of coffee can cause sudden symptoms such as numbness, headache, and depression.

Study 3: Chronic fatigue
One of the causes of chronic fatigue may be a food allergy. Research conducted by prof. Talal Nsouli School of Medicine at Georgetown University, are proving that food allergies are responsible for approximately 60% of cases of chronic fatigue in patients treated in his clinic. "It is simply beyond belief. When odstawiajÄ… (patients), some food, returning to full fitness, "- said prof. Talal Nsouli.

Conclusions suggest themselves! We should listen to our bodies and allow foods that harm us. Remember when you are old maxim which says that every person is different, and what "for one person may be a cure would be poison for another."

Food, which improves mood
Jean Carper in her book "Food your miracle medicine" writes that "(...) Chronic depression is associated with long-standing deficiencies of certain nutrients, which impairs the action of certain neurotransmitters. One such neurotransmitter is serotonin, having a definite impact on mood. A rise in the level improves mood especially in people (...) which are susceptible to depression. Dr. Simon N. Young, Department of Psychiatry of the University of Mc Gill in Montreal, says that low levels of serotonin in the brain are found in people who have committed or attempt to commit suicide, as well as criminals engaged in acts of violence ".

Serotonin is known. hormone of happiness, which is produced in our body when laughing. Not without reason, since ancient times repeated maxim "Laughter is good for health" :) Try to smile as often as possible, even if it sweeps you feel depressed? The more you smile that you will be healthier:)
